Post-Move Formalities – Where to Update Your Address Details?

17 July 2025

Your dream home with a garden is already standing. The construction of the entire new estate is complete, the renovation is done, and the last box has been unpacked. The air is filled with the scent of freshness, and the kids are running around their own bright and colorful rooms. And you? You finally have your own bedroom – no more folding sofa in the living room, no more compromises. You’ve traded in a two-room apartment for a new home where you can breathe, grow, and put down roots. But before you fully dive into this new daily life – it’s time for some formalities.

Where to update your address after moving?

To avoid constantly visiting your old address looking for letters, packages, or official notices, it’s worth updating your address with all the important institutions.
Here’s a practical checklist:

1. City or Municipal Office
Start by reporting a change of residence registration – it’s not always mandatory, but in many cases, it makes life easier (e.g., when applying for documents, registering a vehicle, voting).
2. Driver’s License and CEPiK Address

Although driver’s licenses no longer include your address, if you own a car, it’s worth updating your address in CEPiK (Central Register of Vehicles and Drivers) – this ensures that official letters, fines, or reminders go to the correct address and helps avoid a lot of trouble.
3. Banks and Financial Institutions

This is absolutely essential. Update your address details in all banks where you have:

– personal accounts,
– loans (especially mortgages!),
– credit cards,
– savings accounts and deposits.
Don’t forget about fintechs – such as Revolut, PayPal, etc.

4. ZUS and Tax Office

If you run a business (even as a sole proprietor) and your home address was your business address – report the change to CEIDG (Central Registration and Information on Business).
You should also update your address with ZUS and the Tax Office – especially if you use a trusted profile or receive official correspondence by mail.
5. Employer

Even if all communication happens via email, it’s worth informing the HR department of your new address – for tax, insurance, and correspondence purposes.
6. Utilities and Insurance Providers

Update your address with your mobile operator, internet provider, and all companies with whom you have active insurance policies (health, auto, property). It’s important that all documents and potential claims go to the current address.
7. Healthcare

NFZ / family doctor – switch your clinic if you’ve moved to another municipality.
– Private healthcare – e.g., Luxmed, Medicover, Enel-med. Update your details for document deliveries and any official notifications.

8. Subscriptions and Online Stores
Make sure your packages are sent to the new address:

– beauty, wine, coffee, eco-food boxes,
– magazine subscriptions,
– online stores with a saved address (Allegro, Empik, Amazon, IKEA, etc.),
– mobile apps (e.g., InPost, Bolt, Glovo, Uber Eats).

9. School and Kindergarten
If your children continue attending their current institutions – report the new contact address. It’s important for emergencies or if teachers need to get in touch.
10. Parcel Lockers and Couriers

Update your default address in the InPost, DPD, DHL apps, and other courier services – this makes ordering and receiving packages easier and error-free.
Other things to remember:

– Libraries, gyms, sports clubs – if you have a membership or season pass.
– Classified ad platforms – OLX, Vinted, Facebook Marketplace.
– Loyalty programs – e.g., Rossmann, Lidl Plus, Carrefour.
– Online schools or courses – they often send certificates or promotional materials.
Lastly: double-check!

It’s a good idea to make a list of all the places where you’ve given your address over the years – especially where you place orders or have auto-renewing services.
One wrong address could mean a package showing up at your old apartment – better to avoid that.
